The rectangular Majalengka basket in two different sizes convinces with its two-tone design: the lower part is made of the naturally colored and stable material banana fiber, the upper half is rounded with recycled and wear-resistant white plastic.
Everything has its place here: children's toys, parent magazines or even your favorite plants can be stored decoratively. Thanks to the practical handles, you can transport it more easily from A to B.

Main materials: banana fiber
Our baskets are made from vegetable fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully like nature.
Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered trunks of banana trees used in agriculture. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we value fair wages and good working conditions. Only experienced and mature craftsmen work in the companies where we buy our goods. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are carried out by hand, hardly any greenhouse gas emissions are produced during the production process. We ensure all this through regular site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
