Material: rattan
Our placemats are made from vegetable fibers. They smell and therefore feel wonderfully like nature.
Rattan palms usually grow in large numbers in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants, taking up space from other plants and depleting many nutrients from the soil. The stems, which grow back quickly without chemical additives, must be cut regularly and after the drying process can be used as material for furniture and baskets. This makes rattan an extremely durable material that is available in abundance.

This placemat is handmade in Bali, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we attach great importance to fair pay and good working conditions. Only mature and experienced craftsmen work in the companies where we buy our goods. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all this through regular site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
